INSTALLATION ADVICE

BEFORE INSTALLING A HARDWOOD FLOOR

  1. Measure the room’s dimensions and make sure you have enough hardwood flooring boards on hand to cover the desired surface.

Because hardwood flooring boards are made out of natural material, they may have certain flaws or imperfections. René St-Cyr Enterprise Flooring and Stairs brand flooring boards are manufactured according to industry standards, which allow for a 5% margin of error from manufacturing or natural causes beyond our control.

When ordering, please make sure you add—

    • 5% to the total being covered in order to compensate for the standard industry margin of error from manufacturing or natural causes beyond our control
    • 5% for loss during cutting (increase to 10% for diagonal installation)
  2. You are responsible for carrying out the following checks when you receive your hardwood flooring boards: make sure the color, grade, finish, quality, and quantity correspond to what you ordered. As the original purchaser and owner of the floor, you are entirely responsible for the final inspection before installation.

If the flooring boards have any flaws in excess of the standard 5% margin of error recognized by the industry as previously described, notwithstanding the other conditions, restrictions, and exclusions described on this website, do not modify, cut, or install them, and contact your authorized retailer or René St-Cyr Enterprise Flooring and Stairs immediately.

Once boards are installed, they are considered to have been inspected and therefore accepted by the owner. René St-Cyr Enterprise Flooring and Stairs will reject any claim regarding flooring boards that have already been installed, cut, or modified in any way.

The installer and/or owner is also responsible for—

    • Cutting flooring boards in a reasonable manner in order to minimize loss
    • Installing flooring boards with an eye towards any possible color variations
  3. Determine the right place from which to begin installation. It is usually preferable to begin with the most visible section and end in the least visible section of the room except in certain circumstances.

To ensure better results in terms of color variations, lay the boards out throughout the room in which they will be installed and carefully place them where they will be installed to ensure that shades are matched and balanced. Be sure to choose boards that will coordinate with your moldings.
