MAINTENANCE
OTHER FLOOR CARE AND UPKEEP TIPS
Ensure the protection of your hardwood floors
- Protect your hardwood floors from sunlight and intense artificial light, which can cause wood to change color. The lighter the wood, the more pronounced the change will be.
- Move your carpets and furniture occasionally to keep color changes uniform. Color change is natural and is not caused by the yellowing of the finish.
- Use thick felt pads under chair and furniture legs to protect your hardwood floor. Check the pads and replace them when worn.
- Lift furniture and other objects on the floor when you need to move them.
- Do not slide furniture or any heavy objects on the floor. This can scratch the finish, crush the wood fibers, or damage and leave marks on the wood.
- Use rubber rather than plastic or metal-wheeled chairs.
- Place a mat under wheeled chairs to protect the hardwood floor.
- Do not roll wheeled furniture or chairs that can leave marks on the floor.
- Regularly trim your pet’s claws to reduce scratches.
- Avoid footwear with high or worn heels or soles that can leave marks or damage the floor.
- Avoid mats with rubber backing that trap abrasive dirt and moisture which can damage the hardwood floor.
- Avoid dropping or placing pointed, sharp, or blunt objects that may cause damage to the floor.
